About the Project

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is improving the capacity of 16th Street between Yuma Palms Parkway and Arizona Avenue. These improvements will provide traffic congestion relief through this heavily used intersection.

Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the improvement project and businesses are encouraged to help provide information to their customers regarding improvement activities.

The improvement project is anticipated to be complete in early summer 2010.

The project will include:

• Widening the 16th Street Bridge over Interstate 8 and the railroad track to add one additional travel lane in each direction.
• Adding an auxiliary lane from Yuma Palms Parkway to westbound Interstate 8.
• Improving drainage.
• Replacing pavement markers and signage.
